Equine internal medicine specialist, Educator and horse enthusiast

Dr Perkins is a full clinical professor in internal medicine, and an associate director of the Cornell University Hospital for Animals where she oversees the Equine Hospital and provides clinical care to horses. Active in research, she is interested in understanding the spread and control of equine infectious diseases. Her research focuses particularly on EHV-1 and prudent use of antimicrobials to improve equine health. Perkins also leads four equine elective courses exposing students to equine veterinarians and the industry.
