Jessica Hayward
Genetics researcher
Dr. Hayward is a senior research associate in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and part of the data management team of the Cornell Veterinary Biobank. She received her PhD from The University of Auckland (New Zealand) and moved to Cornell for postdoctoral training in 2009. Since 2011, her research has focused on investigating the genetic risk factors for diseases and other traits in veterinary species, including recent research into the genetic causes of autopsy-negative exercise-associated sudden cardiac death in racing Thoroughbreds. Her research has involved extensive collaboration with specialists in clinical sciences, anatomic pathology, and the Cornell Veterinary Biobank, as well as many external collaborators.
