John Pigott
Equine surgeon
Dr. Pigott is an equine veterinary surgeon and hospital director at Cornell Ruffian Equine Specialists (CRES) on Long Island. He graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University in 2009 and completed an equine surgery residency and master’s degree at The Ohio State University. After working in private practice, he joined CRES in 2016 with expertise in orthopedic and upper airway surgery, complicated lameness and advanced imaging. His current research focuses on Thoroughbred catastrophic breakdown prevention modalities. With extensive history as a competitor in the hunter/jumper field, he utilizes this unique knowledge daily as he approaches cases across disciplines. Dr. Pigott is an invited speaker at both national and international conferences on the topics of orthopedics and lameness.
