Jordan Boesch
Board-certified anesthesiology and pain medicine specialist, researcher, educator, and horse enthusiast
I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences and Chief of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine in the Cornell University Hospital for Animals. I established the multidisciplinary, collaborative Cornell University Comparative Pain Program to further clinical service, research, and education in this area. When on duty in the Equine Hospital I lead a team of residents (anesthesiologists-in-training) and licensed veterinary technicians in the provision of anesthesia and analgesia to equine patients, including continuous infusion of analgesic medications, epidural injection/ catheterization, and peripheral nerve blocks. I enjoy the challenge of anesthetizing critically ill horses like colics. My primary research interest is pain medicine; I conduct research on analgesia in horses, including epidural analgesia and cryoneurolysis. I also lead an elective course for third-year veterinary students entitled Animal Pain.
