Equine scientist and Educator

Dr. de Mestre is the Dorothy Havemeyer McConville Professor of Equine Medicine based at Baker Institute for Animal Health and in Biomedical Sciences. She leads the Cornell Equine Steering committee and is Principal Investigator of the Equine Pregnancy Laboratory.  She received her veterinary degree from the University of Sydney Australia then entered equine specialist practice in Australia and England. Following her PhD at John Curtain School of Medical Research and postdoctoral training at Cornell in the laboratory of Dr. Doug Antczak, she spent 15 years as a faculty member at Royal Veterinary College in London. In 2023, she relocated her laboratory to Cornell where she has been engaged in developing her research program in equine reproductive biology, teaching DVM students, graduate students on the BBS program, and collaborating with colleagues to develop Cornell Equine.
