Equine Internal Medicine Specialist and Scientist

Dr. Marta Cercone completed her DVM and PhD at the University of Perugia, Italy, and thereafter obtained her American College Veterinary Internal Medicine board-certification in Large Animal at Cornell University. Her PhD and post-doctoral studies focused on recurrent laryngeal neuropathy and other neuromuscular diseases of the upper airways causing poor performance in horses. Dr. Cercone is currently assistant professor of Large Animal Internal Medicine in the Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine where she practices internal medicine and leads a research lab investigating equine recurrent laryngeal neuropathy and lung injury, and relative mechanisms, prevention and innovative treatments with a particular interest in neuromodulation and electrodiagnostic.
