Equine extension specialist

Educator

Lindsay teaches courses in equine biology and management, animal behavior, and animal welfare. She also serves as the equine extension specialist for New York State and has special interests in equine behavior and welfare. 

Stem cell biologist

Rebecca is developing equine mammary and gastric organoid cell culture models to study cancer resistance and infectious disease in vitro. 

Genetics researcher

Dr. Hayward is a researcher, interested in the genetics underlying diseases and other traits in dogs, cats, and horses. 

Veterinary pathologist

Mason is an anatomic pathologist and virologist that specializes in diagnosing diseases across species. He has a special focus on equine liver disease and viral hepatitis. 

Equine Ophthalmologist

Educator and Researcher

Dr. Knickelbein is an equine veterinarian and ophthalmologist with a clinical focus on the equine eye. She provides medical and surgical care to horses with eye disease at the Equine Hospital as well as oversees lay-up care of ophthalmology cases at the Equine Park. 

Farrier

Steve is head of Farrier Services at the Equine and Farm Animal Hospital.

Sabine is a large animal primary care field veterinarian and an educator.

Horse & farm animal surgeon

Rebecca McOnie is an ACVS board–certified large animal veterinary surgeon, fellowship trained in minimally invasive soft tissue surgery at Cornell’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She attends to performance and companion horses, providing sports medicine care as well as performing soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. 

Educator and veterinarian

Allison teaches in the pre-clinical veterinary curriculum at Cornell’s College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) with a particular interest in clinical applications of anatomy to equine practice. A strong supporter of active learning, she has worked closely with the CVM’s Educational Support Services to develop case-based learning modules – recreating common scenarios that students may encounter later in practice. As part of this work, she organized an ultrasound lab and created an augmented reality app to help students with X-ray image positioning. 

Equine Internal Medicine Specialist

Equine Cardiologist, Scientist and Educator

Kath focuses her clinical work in the areas of equine internal medicine and cardiology, especially the evaluation of horses with murmurs, arrhythmias or poor performance. Her research concentrates on cardiac diseases that affect the horse, with a particular interest in the mechanisms, diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmia and investigating reasons for exercise associated sudden death.
